I am passionate about developing the future generations of occupational therapists. I believe this can be done a variety of ways:
Mentoring-I have mentored students and young professionals about professional decisions, leadership opportunities, and hand therapy.
Scholarship-I believe that the best way to demonstrate contributions to our profession is to be an example and include students and young professionals in publications and professional presentations.
I am passionate about developing occupational therapy and hand therapy globally.
I have been a committee member of the International Committee of ASHT since 2015, assisting to organize, support and educate with international connections in hand therapy.
I have gone on several international mission trips to El Salvador 2005-2010, representing and providing occupational therapy and hand therapy services.
I have organized and led international FW experiences to Ecuador (2013 & 2014; 2017, 2018 & 2019) and Spain (2020) through 2 different universities.
I have provided international lectures not only at WFOT, but through global connections with the Czech Society of Hand Therapy (2022) and at the University of Malaga, Spain (2022).
I am passionate about advancing the profession forward through scholarship: as the senior editor for the ASHT Times; an occasional editor for several peer-reviewed journals; through writing and publishing original research with collaborators; and as a recent co-editor for an upcoming first edition textbook on leadership and management for PT and OT.
