I have 40 years of experience as an OT with 22 of those years being in OT education. I have served as the Academic FW Coordinator for 12 years and received my FAOTA for Mental Health Practice and Fieldwork Education Leadership. I have served in leadership roles on committees for AOTA, NBCOT and the Missouri State OT Association. The governor of Missouri appointed me to the Missouri OT Licensure Board in 2016. My area of OT practice was primarily in mental health practice in inpatient and community settings. I have been considered to be a leader in the MH OT field and have mentored many young practitioners and students throughout my career. I believe many OTs are leaders, we just need to find the right niche. Mine has been in mental health practice. I feel passionately that OT belongs in the area of mental health and helping people live productive lives in the environment of their choice. I believe in the promotion of public awareness of the value of OT within this area of practice. Once people see what we can bring, they want us to be a part of the team!
