Leadership Accomplishments and Passions (List up to 10)

  • Facilitated three Master’s level OT students from a small OT department (not known for research) to get PhDs in neuroscience or therapeutic science. One of my mentees, Erin King, is the first OT to be accepted to the Northwestern University Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Program.

  • Active member of the Translational Neuroscience group in occupational therapy – a group started by Robert Sainburg, PhD, OTR/L, a well established NIH researcher, in response to dwindling emphasis on neuroscience in OT curriculums and research initiatives.

  • Received an AOTF Intervention Grant and had 3 cohort groups of students work on the project at Rush.

  • Mentor and help to develop research skills of three occupational therapists who work in my NIH funded study at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab. All are inpatient clinicians with a part time research FTE.

  • Twenty percent of my FTE is working as an Upper limb High Intensity Lab Specialist at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.
