Mary Frances Baxter

Mary Frances Baxter (Francie) PhD, OT, FAOTA is a Professor and Interim Associate Director at Texas Woman’s University, Institute of Health Science, Houston. She has 25+ years teaching occupational therapy including entry level, post professional OTD and PhD. Her teaching foci are neuroscience, pediatrics, creativity and professional reasoning. Francie also has an extensive history of volunteer leadership in the Texas Occupational Therapy Association and AOTA. She volunteered 12 years in the Representative Assembly, most notably serving as the Vice Speaker and then Speaker of the Assembly. Francie currently serves as President of the Texas Occupational Therapy Foundation (TOTF) whose aim is to build funding and support for research by Texas Occupational Therapists. Because of her dedication to leadership and recognition of the need for mentoring others into leadership positions, Francie, with others developed and implemented a mentoring program for emerging leaders in Texas. The Texas Occupational Therapy Emerging Leaders (TOTEL) is in its 4th year and has fashioned current and future leaders for occupational therapy volunteer leadership positions.
